Course Competencies

  1. Classify organisms with keys and understand the principles of organism classification

  2. Identify various lab equipment including microscopes

  3. Apply basic principles of chemistry and biochemistry to biology

  4. Apply the principles of evolution to organisms and their natural histories

  5. Examine the foundations and principles of mitosis and meiosis and apply them to genetics. As well as do Punnett squares.

  6. Explore the organ system structure and function including reproductive, digestive, respiratory, circulatory, and the five senses.

  7. Apply ecological principles to environmental concerns

  8. Write a lab report and scientific paper incorporating the qualities of the scientific method, research, and reporting

  9. Examine the structure and function of cells
