Course Description
This course will examine interactions between humans and the environment brought on by hazards and disasters: what causes hazards and disasters, how human and environmental systems are affected, and methods of mitigating impacts or adapting to them. Topics covered will include both natural hazards and disasters (e.g. severe and extreme weather, earthquakes, volcanoes, fire) and anthropogenic forms (e.g. climate change, water/land issues, pollution, human overpopulation dynamics).
